PEF, AMA Offer Affordable Education to Latter-day Saints in the Philippines

One of the hallmark teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the importance of education. Leaders counsel Church members regularly to obtain higher education so that they can contribute to their families, the Church, and to their communities.

On 25 July 2018, the Self-Reliance Services and the Perpetual Education Fund (PEF) of the Church signed a new partnership with AMA University Online Education (AMAOEd) to offer discounted tuition fees to Latter-day Saint students in the Philippines.

Students who enroll in the Senior High School Program can enjoy up 20% tuition fee discount. For professionals who want to pursue graduate studies, AMAOEd offers up to 20% tuition fee discount. High school graduates who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree can enjoy up to 40% discount on their tuition fees. The discounted rate excludes the admission fee.

The Church’s Perpetual Education Fund is a loan program to help Latter-day Saint young men and young women get a good education so that they can become positive contributors not just to their families but also to the communities they reside. It continues to help members in 31 countries.

Members who want to enroll are advised to contact the Self-Reliance Manager assigned to their stake (diocese) or district (small diocese). They may also contact the PEF Support Center for more details.

Christopher P. Satulan, Chief Operating Officer of the AMA Online Education, is a believer that the new mode of education is through online. “There’s limitless, borderless education through online,” he said as he shared about the online education program. “Filipinos can learn.”

Carlos Revillo, Philippines Area Self-Reliance Manager, explained that while the partnership took almost six months to realize, he emphasized, “This will bless the lives of the members.”

Members of the Church believe that self-reliance is an essential component in their spiritual and temporal well-being. The second partnership with AMAOEd is a huge leap that will help members reach their goals.
