LDSC Completes Two New Water Projects in Capiz

LDS Charities, the Humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with technical assistance from A Single Drop of Water has recently turned over two Level III water projects in Jaena Norte, Capiz and Cabuago Panitan, Capiz Philippines. A Level III water project is a piped water supply with a private water point (e.g. house connection).

In Jaena Norte, the project includes a 16,000 liter water tank. This tank is fed by two water sources and supplies water to 120 households. Seven people live in the home of Sebrino Sabala. A faucet was installed outside the house and it serves his house and four others. Villagers explained that life became so much easier for them when they gained access to water in their homes or very nearby.

The project in Cabuago, Panitan uses a spring box and pumphouse with a 5 horse power pump. Currently, it supplies water to 50 households. By the end of the month an extension for 9 households will be added. Local resident Angie Dordas, says that life is much more comfortable now that she has access to water in her home.

Mayor Generoso Deramas stated, "This project gives hope and direction not only for the recipients, but to other barangays seeking their own water projects."

LDS Charities aims to help relieve suffering, foster self-reliance and provide opportunities for service. Sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the organization follows the admonition of Jesus Christ to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in the stranger, clothe the naked and visit the sick and afflicted.
