Virtual "Hallelujah" Chorus
This is the chance of lifetime! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir (MoTab) is inviting individual singers and choirs around the world to sing in a virtual worldwide choir. YouTube star Peter Hollens and his wife, Evynne, have teamed up with the MoTab to record videos for four individual singing parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). Fans are encouraged to upload a YouTube video of themselves singing one of the four parts of the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’sMessiah. Select singers and choral performances will be featured in the final virtual choir video with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square.
Making the video
One can access the sheet music and a sing-along video for guidance on the process of making a personal video. The video includes the lyrics as well as Mack Wilberg conducting to help viewers keep time. To access the sheet music and sing-along videos, one can go to virtualchoir.mormon.org. Once a video is recorded, it can be upload to YouTube, then one needs to copy the YouTube URL to the submission form in the URL above. Participants are encouraged to use #Hallelujah to tag their video. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, March 1, 2016. The final virtual choir video will be released on Sunday, March 13, 2016.
